The main ride is October 13 – 16, 2022.
Each day will bring hills, gravel, and paved roads. You should expect a ratio of 50% paved and 50% gravel roads each day. The ride is set up for mountain, cross, gravel, and crossover bikes with wider, knobby tires. Road bikes are not recommended. The ride will start and end at our BASC Basecamp. 3-Day, 2-Day, and 1-Day ride options are available. Long Route: 50-60 miles per day Short Route: 20-30 miles per day
Location: McCormick County, South Carolina – Among the pines and hill country of Sumter National Forest, nestled along South Carolina’s Freshwater Coast of Lake Thurmond.

Did you know you could join in the fun? Bicycle Across South Carolina Event is coming up October 13 – 16. BASC has a link on the Chamber website or you can go direct to www.bicycleacrosssouthcarolina.com to check out the options. Last I heard over 300 riders had signed up. Some groups from McCormick are already involved.
Volunteer even if you don’t ride a bike:
From the website click on The Ride, then Volunteers. Volunteers are a crucial part of this event and they are looking for some fun, outgoing people to join their dedicated team. Volunteer Perks Include: 1 Volunteer T-Shirt and Swag Bag, 1 Meal per Shift, Opportunity to ride for free + a campsite if you complete (3) volunteer shifts. And the chance to hang out with a great group of people! Three categories: Rest Stop Personnel, Packet Pick up and Rider Check in, and Venue Set up and Strike. Volunteers are needed before, during, and following the ride events -10/11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17.
