Let’s Kick off the Holiday Season with Joy and Hospitality!
2021 has been a “Building Back Year” for the Holiday On Main Activities. Our Chamber Staff Members and Community Volunteers started earlier than usual this year to make sure we have downtown McCormick decorated for the Christmas Holiday Season. We are bringing back our timeless events, but have added some new events. There will be lots to do in Historic Downtown because our community partners knows the importance of having our family, friends, neighbors, and business community pulling together and making it fun for the whole family. The McCormick County Chamber of Commerce invites you to participate in the Holiday On Main activities in downtown Historic McCormick starting the Thanksgiving Weekend, Nov. 26 and 27 with Shop Small Business Saturday and the preview showing of the Fourth Annual Christmas Tour of the Historic Dorn House, located at 206 E. Gold Street open from 12 Noon – 5 p.m. each day. The McCormick Garden Club presents the Colonial Revival style house in all its Holiday glory. The McCormick Garden Club is proud to be the decorating sponsor of the Dorn House. The artistic Garden Club ladies received the Garden Club of South Carolina three-time First Place winner and the National Garden Club two-time winner of their First Place award for “Decoration of an Historic Building”.
Starting the first weekend of December 3rd the Holiday Market at the Cotton Gin, 206 North Main Street opens with local and regional artisans selling handcrafted creations and the Festival of Trees at the Grist Mill will open for viewing. It will be open Dec. 3, 4, 10 and 11, 2021. The McCormick County Historical Commission proudly presents the 2021 Festival of Trees illuminating the 1898 Grist Mill. The hours of operation will be from 12 p.m. – 7 p.m. daily. The group of talented ladies plan decorations to showcase a different theme each year. The tour is for all ages and is handicap accessible and opened from 12 Noon – 7 p.m.
New activities this year for the adults is the Merchants Downtown Wine Walk and for the kids Decorate a Tree Ornament at the MACK. So plan to be in downtown McCormick 4 p.m.-6 p.m. and join the tour. Area merchants extend a warm welcome and festive ” kick off” to our beautiful and bright Holiday On Main. Pick up your Wine Walk map at the Red Rooster on Main Street and visit, linger, and enjoy this show-stopper events and celebrate our diverse community. Bring the kids to the Mack Arts Council at 5 p.m. at 115 S Main Street to join in the kids activity decorating ornaments to be hung on our Community Christmas Tree. At 6:30 p.m. The SLV Green Curtains theatre group will perform “Twas the Night Before Christmas” at the Dorn Mill Complex, 206 N Main Street and at 7 p.m. the Annual lighting of the Community Christmas Tree will follow on the lawn-area of the Dorn Complex.
Santa and his elves will be on hand to assist in the Tree lighting ceremony. Join Mayor Roy Smith and Council members in a sing along of our favorite Christmas Carols. Music will be provided by Impulse Entertainment featuring local DJ Billy Jackson, and Michelle’s Pizza is sponsoring the Toys for Tots donation. Maybe it will snow, but don’t worry, stay warm with a cup of hot cocoa from Michelle’s Pizza elves.
The 2021 Holiday on Main Christmas Parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4th hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. This year’s theme is “Cultivating A Hallmark Christmas’ Parade. Come cheer on our parade participants and greet our favorite guest of honor. Photos with Santa at the McCormick Arts Council with be held prior to the parade from 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Bring your children and pets for photos with Santa. A digital photo package ( this includes one 4″X 6” print) is available for $ 15. Cost of sitting fees benefit the Humane Society of McCormick County.
Come to McCormick downtown on Saturday, December 11 starting at 12 Noon until 4 p.m. and participate in our Second Annual Chamber of Commerce Cookie Walk. Purchase a ticket for $10 in advance at the Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center. When you turn in your purchased ticket on Sat. Dec. 11, you will receive a map of all the participating locations. Twenty-Six businesses have signed up for this event. At each location you will get a cookie or baked goods item.
Top off your visit to our beautiful Historic town during the Christmas Seasons and attend one of the two Community Chorus Concerts, Dec 4th at 7 p.m. or Sunday, Dec. 5th at 3 p.m. The Community Chorus presents “It’s Beginning to look Like Christmas” Location of the concert is the SLV Recreation Center, 385 Country Club Drive, McCormick SC 29835. $6.00 Admission Fee.
Back by popular demand is the Nativities From Around the World. Dates: Dec. 3, 4, 5, 10, and 11, 2021. Time: 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. An extensive collection of nativities from the world will be on display at the Lutheran Church by the Lake, 100 Twelve Oaks Drive, McCormick, SC. 29835. Admission is free.
All of our historic places of interest will be open starting Nov. 26 and 27; Dec. 3, 4, 10th, & 11th 12 Noon – 7 p.m. and our shops and restaurants will be open offering special promotions during this festive time. Please drop by the Chamber of Commerce at 100 So.
