Historic Downtown McCormick offers holiday activities for the whole family. Explore our specialty shops and unique historical sites including the Dorn Mill Complex.

Festival of Trees at the Grist Mill

The McCormick County Historical Commission proudly presents the Festival of Trees illuminating the 1898 Grist Mill. Step back in time as you tour this historical building that Christmas Elves have transformed into a winter holiday wonderland. This tour is for all ages and is handicap accessible. Bring cameras as you will want to take pictures.

Holiday Market at the Cotton Gin

The Cotton Gin, part of the Dorn Mill Complex, is home to a Holiday Market. Local and regional artisans will be selling beautifully handcrafted merchandise, jewelry, jellies, jams, quilts, baby items, baked goods, cards, etc.

Christmas Open House at the McCormick Methodist Church

Just one block from downtown Main Street, McCormick Methodist Church invites you join them in welcoming the Advent Season! Enjoy a complimentary hot beverage while browsing through the beautifully decorated church.

Parade – “A Charlie Brown Christmas” Main Street Historic Downtown McCormick

Hosted by the McCormick County Chamber of Commerce. Come cheer our annual Christmas parade and greet our perennial guest of honor.

Story Walk – Dorn Mill Complex

Your whole family can enjoy McCormick County Historical Commission’s Story Walk. Begin at the Dorn Mill Weigh Station, stroll down the sidewalk past the Cotton Gin, and end at the Grist Mill.

Enjoy the performance of this holiday classic by the Green Curtains Performance Theater Group. Presented at the Community Tree at the Dorn Mill Complex lawn area.

Tree Lighting Ceremony – Dorn Mill Complex

Enjoy an annual celebration of Christmas with a picnic. Bring your own chairs. Sweets and other food items will be on sale at the Dorn Mill Complex. The community tree lighting will immediately follow the Green Curtains Performance Theater skit.

The Christmas Cookie Walk begins at the Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center and continues in downtown McCormick. Tickets are required at $10.00 per person, good for a cookie or baked goods item at each participating location. Special Event: Story Walk

Historic Dorn Mill Complex, November 25th – December 15th

Your whole family can enjoy the McCormick County Historical Commission’s Story Walk, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” by Charles M. Schulz. Begin at the Dorn Mill Weigh Station, stroll down the sidewalk past the Cotton Gin, and end at the Grist Mill. The Story Walk runs from November 25th through December 15th.

Follow Snoopy from the weigh station to the grist mill as you read the whole story posted on laminated panels.
